5.Young Buck – Buck The World (March 25^th)

This is the second best album to come out from the G-unit camp (Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ is in a league of its own & yes its better than Hunger For More). Young Buck killed it on this album, it is way better than his debut album and probably the only sophomore album that came out in the new millenium that was better than the debut album. Straight Outta Cashville is no match for Buck The World, Young Bucks lyrical skills have really grown, the album is one of the best albums to come out from the south in while, it isn’t really meant for the mainstream audience, ,he really surprised me with this album.
The album was originally supposed to be titled Fuck The World but it was later changed to Buck The world. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 & #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart selling over 140,000 copies, it has been certified gold after selling over 500,000 copies (his debut album went platinum selling over 1.1 million records). Some of the producers on the album were Dr. Dre, Polow Da Don, Lil’ Jon, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Jazze Pha, DJ Toomp & Hi-Tek.

4. Lupe Fiasco – The Cool (Dec. 18^th)

Lupe’s sophomore album was the best sophomore album of 07, the album is amazing, it falls just short of his unbelievable debut album Food & Liquor, Lupe is one of the games best lyricist, the concept of the album is amazing.
It debuted at #14 on the Billboard 200 (Food & Liquor debuted at #8 despite selling fewer copies) selling over 145,000 copies, it has sold over 376,000 copies so far and is still going strong. Soundtrakk handled most of the albums production.

3. Common – Finding Forever (July 31^st)

This album is gonna go down as one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. After dropping Be which in my opinion was the best album in 05 (even Late Registration wasn’t better than Be) and one of the best hip-hop albums of all time it seemed like Common couldn’t get any better, he proved me wrong by dropping another classic this year. Finding Forever uses the same mechanics used to create Be, Lyrically this is the best album of 07 & big up to Kanye for sampling Ethiopian artist Seyfu Yohannes’s Tezeta (Sampled for the DJ Premier assisted song The Game).
This is Common’s 7^th album, it debuted at #1 becoming his 1^st ever album to debuted at #1 (Be debuted at #2) and only second album overall to debuted inside the Top 15. Finding Forever sold over 155,000 copies its 1^st week, it has sold over 525,000 copies so far and reached gold status, it is Commons third highest selling album of all time (Be being his best). Kanye handled majority of the albums production, Will.I.Am & the late J.Dilla provided a beat each.

2. Kanye West – Graduation (Sept. 11^th)

After a lot of debate (in my head that is), I decided that graduation wasn’t the best album to come out in 07. At first the hype about who was gonna sell more had given me the impression that both 50 cent & Kanye West were gonna come out with their best work ever, I was very wrong as both albums weren’t as good (in Curtiss case not even close) as their debut albums. Graduation is clearly a Hip-Hop classic, I remember when I first listened to it I thought it was a lock for album of the year, but after listening to it several several times I knew it wasn’t Kanye’s best album (College Dropout still holds that title).

The album is one of two rap albums that came out in 07 whose production was near flawless (the other one being the Polow Da Don produced debut album of Rich Boy). Kanye ventures into new territories on Graduation, his lyrical abilities are at an all time high and he has finally proven to the world that he is the best rapper alive period (some people might disagree with me on that one). The one thing that I miss & im sure most people miss (on Graduation) are those funny skits we have gotten accustomed to. At the end of the day Kanye produced another classic, the album falls short of his masterpiece debut album (College Dropout) but is better than his second effort (Late Registration).

The album debuted at #1 on both the Billboard 200 & the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart selling a whopping 957,000 copies (almost going platinum) its debut week, it has sold over 2 million copies in the U.S. (only rap album in 07 to be certified double platinum) & 3 million copies world wide so far. Kanye West is now tied with Eminem as the only rapper whose first three albums won Grammies for Rap Album Of The Year.

1. T.I. – T.I. Vs. T.I.P. (July 3rd)

Finally we have reached the climax & T.I.P. has the top spot. This is one of the most creative albums of all time, the idea for the album stemmed from a song with the same name from his debut album I’m Serious. The album plays out like a well scripted movie if u here the songs in order. After dropping King in 06, T.I. changed my perception of the south (most of the songs coming out from the south are usually mainstream, they talk about the same thing, they are chorus heavy & 9/10 albums usually don’t live up to the hype of their singles). King proved to me that T.I. is only one of a few elite rappers from the south that can produce an almost near to perfect album. Like Commons Finding Forever I had my doubts on how good T.I. Vs. T.I.P. would be, King had really set the mark high, but T.I. proved me wrong by dropping another classic. T.I. is probably the only rapper that can say he has improved album after album, all the albums he has released so far (that is excluding his debut album) have been better than the album that came out before them. This album is jus a little better than King, unlike King all the tracks on the album are close to perfect (you can hear it from top to bottom) but it doesn’t have the stand out tracks King had.
The album debuted at #1 on both the Billboard 200 & The Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums charts selling over 468,000 copies (King sold 522,000 copies) its 1^st week, it has sold over 1.7 million copies to date and was certified platinum in 2 months. Producers on the album include Danja, Mannie Fresh, Just Blaze, The Runners, Eminem & Wyclef Jean.
